Government Relations
With over 20 years’ experience in government relations, Jim has in-depth experience working closely with federal, state, and local policymakers to affect meaningful change on a wide range of issues and subjects. Jim has successfully advocated on behalf of non-profits, businesses, and various coalitions to achieve their regulatory and legislative goals. Knowing both sides of government relations and having built a deep network of connections across the country over the decades, Jim has the knowledge and resources to make the difference for clients on an extensive number of initiatives.
Jim’s deep familiarity with issues impacting the technology and financial services industries comes from over a decade leading the nationwide government relations team of a top 10 financial services institution. With many states left to address privacy regulation on their own in the absence of a national policy, Jim brings hands-on experience from working in California as it leads the nation developing ground-breaking privacy legislative and regulatory initiatives. In addition to privacy, his financial services background uniquely qualifies him to consult on government proposals impacting digital commerce, cyber-security, and data breach prevention/response. Prior to working in the financial services sector, Jim helped advance policy on issues facing almost every industry or special interest during his time with The Council of State Governments, the U.S. Congress, and the Federal Election Commission.
